The Breath of Life (continued)

Next, move your awareness to the exhalation. What does the quality and movement of the exhalation say about your ability to let go and surrender? What are you attached to in your life? What feelings come up as you initiate the process of letting go? Use the out-breath as a point of contemplation.

Then, notice the space between inhalation and exhalation and the space between exhalation and inhalation. What do you feel within theses spaces? What are you trying not to feel within these spaces? Is your transition to the next breath smooth or hesitant? How do you experience yourself during transitions in your life? Use these spaces in the breath as points of contemplation.

Now see your breath as one cycle… in, transition, out, transition, in… like a wave moving through space and time. See the crest of the wave as birth and the nadir of the wave as death, both interconnected within the larger wave of life. Contemplate what you believe about birth, life and death, and see how the wave of life continues infinitely through time and space - past, present and future. Allow your mind to open to a larger perspective as you use your focus on the breath to anchor yourself into conscious reality.

When you sense you are finished, simply relax and begin to become aware of your body and surroundings. Use the in-breath to call yourself back into your body and into waking consciousness. Let the breath breathe you. Let the breath breathe movement into your fingers and toes, allowing yourself to move and stretch as you need or desire. Gently open your eyes and allow your eyes to adjust to your environment. Take your time, and when you are ready, close with a sense of gratitude for the experience and continue with your day… inspired by the Breath of Life.
